The challenge was born from the fee to design an area that may perform as a sort of observatory of nature and its environment. To realize this, the primary driving concept was to semi-bury the home, in such a approach that the vegetation would dialogue with the home on the identical scale and permit those that inhabit it to really feel immersed within the panorama.

Likewise, the challenge sought to generate a consequence that expressed a sure ambiguity between what’s inside and out of doors the home, achieved via the play and alternation between parts of enormous openings and closures in the direction of the backyard. On this approach, the principle entry is proposed as an area of complete transparency that permits you to cross the home along with your eyes and that, along with a water mirror, generates the feeling that the ocean reaches the doorway door.

The inside views confide in each the ocean and the hills in a double-span scheme that, via an prolonged central circulation, is distributed to the rooms positioned on either side. In flip, there are two concrete parts (chimney and entry wall) that configure the morphology and distribution of the rooms, whereas functioning as a visible anchor of the challenge with the terrain.

The work is proposed as a versatile and adjustable house relying on the use and variety of company who inhabit it. This high quality is feasible via a sequence of enclosures and movable doorways that enable the road between private and non-private to be blurred. On this approach, the master suite can open to the lounge via two sliding doorways that conceal contained in the chimney. It is usually attainable to divide the home into two, producing clusters of impartial rooms.

The materiality of the challenge consists of two giant concrete blocks that encourage a strongly brutalist gesture that, in distinction to the lightness of the wood and glass enclosures, handle to face out and be clearly understood as the principle axes of the challenge.
