The Boatyard Lodge is located in Shanwan Village, a swamp area of Zhongjiadang, throughout the Wujiang District of Suzhou Metropolis. This space has been designated as a number one pilot space for Inexperienced and Built-in Ecological Growth within the Yangtze River Delta Proposal. Since 2020, the area has launched a sequence of rural revitalization plans to advertise the agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries. Because of this, the Boatyard Lodge and the Restaurant of Metasequoia Grove now represent the agricultural revitalization demonstration zone in Qushui Shanwan. Situated on the entrance of Shanwan Village, The Boatyard Lodge is GOA’s second challenge within the space, designed to fulfill vacationers’ eating and lodging wants. Together with the Restaurant of Metasequoia Grove, this architectural cluster serves as the primary cease for vacationers and a future group parlor for locals.

A Cluster of Awnings – To the south of the positioning lies a pure wharf that ignites the architect’s creativeness of the bustling Jiangnan water cities. The idyllic great thing about “blue waters gently lapping towards verdant shores, whereas small boats glide by” conjures childhood reminiscences for each riverside era. With the picture in thoughts, the architect translated the native awning boat with an arched cover into an undulating roof to compose a people rhyme of Jiangnan. Past including a brand new dimension to the mild rural skyline, the arched roof immerses guests in a poetic viewing expertise. The picture of clustered awnings evokes a vibrant water city environment, arousing the flowery for thriving magnificence. As boats collect, tales of reunion unfold.

The ascending arches of the roof and the trail resulting in the second flooring create a crescendo, serving as a prelude to encountering the expansive wetland scroll. The alignment of every arch on the roof with a visitor room beneath creates a harmonious unity. Mixing a residing village with pure surroundings, the Boatyard Lodge affords guests a serene escape from city chaos, whereas immersing them in nature’s embrace as they method.
