Textual content description supplied by the architects. Within the distinctive context of the mountain village of Malá Úpa, we designed a home for buddies that pulls inspiration from historic buildings within the Krkonoše Mountains, using centuries-old information of mountain dwelling and remodeling it for up to date residential wants. The home is positioned in the direction of the western sloping mountain meadow of the boundary ridge, confirming native customs each in its distance from the highway and alignment of the ridge. It echoes the form of historic mountain homes whereas incorporating up to date architectural rules.
The home’s type is easy, notably elongated, set on a notable plinth clad in native stone. The quantity above the stone base is clad in untreated wooden, regularly evolving its expression over time, buying a silvery-grey hue. As time passes, the white-painted battens masking the seams between the facade planks more and more stand out as an accent. This facade ensures longevity even within the circumstances of our highest mountains. The roofing is addressed with a gabled roof lined in black-lacquered aluminum sheeting, that includes a pair of dormers intentionally set again from the gables. The smaller dormer dealing with the highway is fully clad with roof sheeting, whereas the bigger dormer, oriented towards the view and illuminating the bed room, has its entrance facade clad in wooden.
Within the western half, the primary quantity of the home is expanded by a veranda impressed by the extensions of historic cottages. The veranda is partially lined with vertical lathing on the facade stage, making a buffer between the inside and exterior, visually decreasing the impact of the veranda breaking by. As an accent, a recent, totally open metal terrace extends from the veranda, hovering above the encompassing terrain, supported by a pair of splayed legs. Throughout excessive climate circumstances, when the environment blur and visibility is minimal, it turns into a commanding bridge in the midst of nothingness.
The distinction to the open facade with the veranda is the facade dealing with the highway, the place the home seems extra closed-off. This facade conceals all parts that are not fascinating to intensify. The one distinguished function opposing the steel dormer is the black entrance metal field, shielding in opposition to direct climate affect. Via the doorway field, guests enter the vestibule and proceed additional into the home with a pure move between rooms, the place the spacious dwelling space takes priority. From the bottom ground, stairs result in the basement with house wellness and a sports activities space or to the attic, which is solely designated for bedrooms.
The inside idea aligns with the modest character of the home, aiming to create a dignified haven for the household, making certain everybody feels snug even throughout the harshest mountain storms. The inside prominently options wooden complemented by delicate muted colours and thoroughly chosen craftsmanship and creative parts.
